The Trail of Tears represents a very dark point in our Nation's past. It was a time when Andrew Jackson used his power as President to forcibly remove large groups of Native Americans from their homelands onto reservations further west. One such group, the Cherokee, stood their ground as long as they could. Even after a successful Supreme Court ruling their tribe, numbering over 15,000, was forced to give up their homelands and march to the new reservations, losing roughly 4,000 along the way. Throughout this webquest you will be working on filling in a research guide. The final activity will be to create a poster that allows you to reflect on the Trail of Tears and what you have learned.
Please click the Research Guide button to open the guide that you will be completing. You can print it out if you would like or just type your answers within the document. Once you have the guide saved, or printed click the orange button labeled BEGIN.
